Lady Warriors Run Greyhounds on Historic Night

The OCP girls basketball team started the opening minute of their first of three home games during the week with a historic moment. Sophomore Co-Captain Siarah Brown converted a layup to give OCP a 4-2 lead over the Lyman Greyhounds and thus scored over her 1,000th point as a member of the Lady Warriors.

Brown, who has been a playing on the varsity team since she was in seventh grade, scored a game-high 22 points in the contest as the Lady Warriors improved to 3-0 on the season.  Junior co-captain Jasmine Wright scored 21 points as OCP used an 18-3 second quarter to separate from their opponent from Seminole County.

Joined by her parents and brothers, Ronald (OCP c/o 2013), AJ ('22) and Isaiah ('24), who play on the varsity boys basketball team, Principal Jennie Jacobson announced the historic moment after the game to the crowd that was on hand for the varsity girls-boys doubleheader.  Head coach Chris Cenicola presented Siarah with a game ball as her teammates cheered for their captain.

Brown's first points came on November 24, 2017, according to MaxPreps.com, against Forest Hill (West Palm Beach) in a 58-13 win where she scored four points.  The 2017-18 Lady Warriors would go 26-6 and finish the season as the 2018 3A FHSAA State Runner-Up. The path to the state championship game included a win in the Final Four against defending state champion Florida A&M High.
