LAKELAND, FL --
Orlando Christian Prep (22-0) defeated City of Life Christian Academy (24-3) 55-31 in the FHSAA Class 2A District 11 Championship to claim their 5th consecutive district championship, all under head coach Treig Burke.
OCP opened the game with a 16-3 first quarter. City of Life's only field goal in the first half came in the first quarter as OCP went to the half with a 27-9 advantage.
The Warriors were led by senior Omar Figueroa with a game-high 16 points (5-9 FG, 2-2 3FG, 4-4 FT), 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Junior A.J. Brown added 9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists. Senior guard Joshua Blazquez had a team-high 6 assists and 6 points. Sophomore Jayden Hastings had a team-high 7 rebounds and 3 blocks with 4 points.
With the win, the Warriors host a regional quarterfinals contest against the runner-up of District 12 (Covenant Christian School, Palm Bay) on Thursday February 18 at 7 pm in the AD Norman Life Center. Tickets cost is $7 for this game.
