Thomas's Walk-off Squeeze Bunt Picture Perfect Ending In Warriors' Victory Over Foundation Academy

A walk-off bunt led Orlando Christian Prep Varsity Warriors past Foundation Academy 9-8 on Monday.  The game was tied at eight with Orlando Christian Prep batting in the bottom of the thirteenth when Riley Winters induced sophomore Grace Thomas to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as OCP (8-0) collected 16 hits and Foundation Academy 14 in the high-scoring affair

Orlando Christian Prep Varsity Warriors got things started in the first inning when sophomore Lexi Perez's sac fly scored one run for the Warriors.

Sophomore Mia Rosario (4-0) earned the victory on the rubber. The ace lasted six innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out five.  Thomas threw seven innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Winters took the loss for Foundation Academy. The pitcher surrendered four runs on eight hits over seven and a third innings, striking out ten.

Sophia Smith started the game for Foundation Academy. The hurler went five innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking zero

Orlando Christian Prep Varsity Warriors tallied two home runs on the day. Perez had a homer in the fifth inning, her 5th on the season. Sixth-grader Yamilette Cordova hit a 3-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to keep the game alive until the final inning.

Orlando Christian Prep totaled 16 hits.  Seventh-grader Sabrina Boyer, Rosario, Perez, sophomore Naya Rosario, and Aracelis Jimenez all had multiple hits.  Boyer led the Warriors with five hits in six at bats.  Orlando Christian Prep tore up the base paths with nine stolen bases, as two players stole at least two bases. M. Rosario led the way with three.

The Warriors will be on the road Tuesday against Timber Creek high school. OCP defeated them 11-1 in the first meeting back on March 8th.

On Thursday March 31, OCP will participate in the 30th annual Roger Jones Kissimmee Klassic softball tournament that takes place Thursday through Sunday at Osceola County's Fortune Road Athletic Complex. The Warriors will open in a 16-team bracket under the lights against Palm Coast Matanzas at 7:30 pm.  Daily admission is $15.
