Lady Warriors Muzzle Bulldogs In Late Inning Rally For Win

Orlando Christian Prep Varsity Warriors stole the lead late and defeated Mount Dora Christian Academy 11-7 on Tuesday. Trailing 7-2 heading into the top of the sixth inning, the Warriors scored three runs in the top half of the inning and another six in the 7th to overcome the deficit. With the game tied at seven, junior Grace Thomas tripled on a 0-2 count, driving in the go-ahead run. Three more runs would follow as the Warriors seemed to take out some frustration on MDCA.

The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Orlando Christian Prep (10-4) collected 16 hits and Mount Dora Christian Academy had 11 in a matchup between two of the top teams in the 2A region.

In the first inning, Mount Dora Christian Academy got their offense started when Wynter Craft homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Mount Dora Christian Academy scored three runs in the third inning. The big inning for Mount Dora Christian Academy came thanks to a single by Brooke Moss and a double by Emily Allen.

Thomas (5-1) got the win for the Warriors. The bulldog went three innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out one and walking zero.

Mia Rosario started the game for OCP. The sophomore fireballer went four innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out two and walking zero

Allen took the loss for Mount Dora Christian Academy. Allen went six and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 runs on 15 hits and striking out two.

Orlando Christian Prep tallied 16 hits. Naya Rosario, Thomas, Liany Rosario, and Lexi Perez all managed multiple hits. N. Rosario went 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles to lead the Warriors in hits. Younger sister Liany and Thomas each had three hits and scored twice. Thomas, Pererz and N.Rosario were each credited with 2RBI. Junior Carlee Cruz drew three walks and scored once. Sophomore Ari Jimenez walked twice and scored twice.

The win snapped a three game losing streak for the Warriors who lost their last two games in the Kissimmee Klassic and a Monday night showdown with Lyman (Longwood) HS.

OCP begins a four-game homestand on Thursday April 7 against Trinity Christian Academy (7-3), and Friday April 8 against Lake Minneola.  All games will be played at Azalea Little League.
