Post-Hurricane Ian Schedule Changes To Start Month Of October

Orlando, Fla --

Orlando Christian Prep, along with other Central Florida schools, is trying to find normalcy after Hurricane Ian passed through Central Florida last week leaving destruction to property and buildings, damages to trees, flooding and power outages for hundreds of thousands of residents.

Many athletic events scheduled from the middle to end of the week were postponed or canceled, with athletic departments working to determine what could be rescheduled as the fall sports calendar nears the final few regular season weeks for sports other than football. OCP volleyball and football teams were affected as multiple volleyball matches and a district football game were postponed.

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

As the first week of October begins, the biggest game of the 2022 OCP Football season to date kicks off the week. OCP will travel to district foe TFA (First Academy-Orlando) on Monday night in a game that will most likely decide the district champion.

Currently, OCP is unbeaten (2-0) in their two district matches against Orangewood (50-0) and Foundation Academy (57-14). TFA is unbeaten on the season with a 1-0 district record after defeating Orangewood 22-8. With a win, OCP will control their own destiny heading into the final district game against Trinity Prep.

Last year, these teams played a Monday night game that was also postponed due to weather. Heavy rains in the 24 hours leading up to the Friday night game affected field conditions enough at Warrior field that athletic directors from OCP and TFA agreed to move the game to TFA, which has field turf. OCP defeated TFA 14-7 on a beautiful Monday evening to start what would be an 11-game winning streak, hosting multiple playoff games, a Regional Championship and a state semifinal game.
