Orlando, Fla --

The 2nd seeded Orlando Christian Prep varsity girls volleyball defeated top-seeded Faith Christian Academy 3-1 (25-20, 26-24, 19-25, 25-22) for the Class 2A District 7 championship.

The Lady Warriors jumped out to a two set lead after winning a dramatic second set. After losing the third set, OCP (12-9) did what they were unable to do just 8 days earlier, finish off the Lady Lions in the 4th set on a closing serve by junior Kalyn McIntyre that was never returned back to OCP.

OCP was led by team captain, senior,  Aalyssa Gunn with 13 completed kills. Setter, senior, Lydia Mascari with 32 assists and sophomore, and outside hitter Madison Hull who was selected the player of the match with 6 completed kills, 10 digs and 11 points on serve.

It was OCP's first District Championship in the history of the OCP volleyball program. The Lady Warriors were seeded 8th in the Class 2A Region 2, which sets up a match against the top-seeded Orangewood Christian School Rams in the Regional Quarterfinals, Tuesday October 25, 7pm.

Congratulations to Coach Soto, Coach McIntyre, Coach Jacobson, Aalyssa, Lydia, Carlee, Marieva, Ariana, Alana, Kalyn, Alana, Madison, Naiomy and Trinity for accomplishing something that had never been done before. These ladies will be forever remembered as HISTORY MAKERS!
