New team preparing to play to same program standards.

It’s a new season with a new team for the OCP Warriors varsity boys basketball team. Yet, the 2022-23 Warriors are practicing and playing with the same standard that has led the program to 10 FHSAA State Championships, five in the last six seasons under head coach Treig Burke, and three consecutive titles over the past three years.

OCP returns two starters from last season’s championship team - juniors Isaiah Brown and Ameer Ramadan, and two key reserves expected to start and play meaningful minutes - senior Isaiah Sutherland and junior Marc Angueki. Seniors Jayden Alberty and Joel Castillo round out the returners that will look to provide leadership and quality minutes in practices and games.

Among the five first-year Warriors is a mix of experienced and first-year varsity players that will look to merge with their teammates into the type of team that contends for the program’s 11th state championship.

The season opens on Tuesday November 22 in the 12th Annual Earl Graham Metro vs Florida Challenge, presented by HoopCulture, against Edgewater High School at 1:45 pm. The game will be played at Lake Highland Prep (901 Highland Ave, Orlando, FL 32803). Admission is $10 for a single day pass, and $15 for a four-day pass. OCP only plays on Day 1, Tuesday.

The multi-day event takes place during the thanksgiving break week, which is the FHSAA’s first week of regular season competition for boys basketball teams across the state. Hosted by Apopka HS, the schools from Orange County Public School play some of the strongest high school teams across the region on the two days before Thanksgiving and two days after. 28 games will be played at Lake Highland Prep and Apopka HS over the four days.

All games will stream live on the Varsity Sports Network (VSN). VSN is available on the Internet at https://varsitysportsnetwork.org/live-tv/orlando/ and can be downloaded on streaming apps like Roku, AppleTV, and Firestick.
