A matchup between two hungry Regional Champs Teams on a night of appreciation, love, introspection and pageantry.
Orlando Christian Prep's attempt to make it four in a row ended unexpectedly.
Friday at the RP Funding Center, Orlando Christian battled back from an 18- point deficit to lose to a competitive Weston Sagemont 67-66 in the FHSAA Class 2A Championship Game.
Just needed one more second on the clock!!
Last year OCP beat Sagemont last year in the 2A title game, with a score 66-49 for their 10th State title.
The Last 33 seconds was a sight I haven't seen before, It was incredible. A Sagemont player fouled Junior guard Ameer Ramadan for the seventh as Sagemont led 66-61. However, Head Coach David Roe from Sagemont was given a technical foul for taking longer than 15 seconds from reaching the line and instead sent Senior Ka'leel Stillman to the free throw line.
Ramadan followed by sinking both of his free throw attempts to cut the Sagemont advantage to 66-64 after Stillman made one of two technical foul free throws.
When Junior Isaiah Brown brought back an offensive rebound with 13 seconds left, the score was suddenly knotted at 66.
With a few second left on the clock OCP fouled an Sagemont guard. Sagemont Guard made one of his two free throw attempts, giving Sagemont a 67-66 lead with 0.5 seconds remaining.
At the last buzzer, Ramadan made a last-ditch full-court shot, but fell a little short.
