OCP Football wins 2nd state championship in 3 seasons

Lakeland, Fla. -- Saturday November, 21, 2020

As the No.1 seed in the 2020 Sunshine State Athletic Conference (SSAC) 11-man AAA playoff, the Orlando Christian Prep Warriors never trailed, averaged 39 points per game, and held their three opponents to an average of 18 points per game en route to claiming the school's second SSAC in the past three years on their third consecutive trip to the championship game.

The Warriors (8-2) scored two touchdowns on their first two drives of the game against 3-seed Mt. Dora Christian Academy.  They carried a first quarter 22-6 lead to a 48-21 win in a rematch between the teams that played back on October 2nd, which OCP won 48-28.  Sophomore QB Vilay Nakkoun scored three touchdowns to lead OCP in scoring.

Surrounded by players, spouses and families, head coach Guerschom Demosthenes, thanked his wife, the coaching staff and families for their sacrifices and support, and congratulated the young men of Orlando Christian Prep that overcame the uncertainties and challenges associated with this season to earn a championship.

The team held to their source of inspiration throughout the season in Deuteronomy 31:8 that reads: The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

They were great for 48 minutes in the biggest game of their season, a season and year they will never forget.  Congratulations Warriors.
