OCP entered the opening game of Class 2A District 8 tournament as the No.2 seed of the 4-team district field against No.3 seed Merritt Island Christian. The winner of the contest advanced to the district championship game, and would earn a spot in the regional quarterfinals of the FHSAA 2A state playoffs.
Led by junior guard Siarah Brown, the Lady Warriors defeated the Cougars 64-45. Brown scored 27 points (9-13 FG, 2-3 3FG, 7-10 FT) and pulled down 13 rebounds, with 3 steals and 3 assists to lead all scorers. Sophomore teammates Trinity Harden and Aracelis Jimenez scored 18 and 11 points, respectively, on the evening. Harden also had 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists as well. OCP went to the free throw line 45 times in the contest.
With the win, the Lady Warriors evened their record at 9-9 and will play No.1 seed and Class 2A's top-ranked team, Faith Christian Academy (22-4) in the district championship game. The winner will host a game in the FHSAA Class 2A regional quarterfinals, while the loser will travel to an opponent and site to be determined.
