Demarion Jenkins scores 4 times in opening quarter

Maitland, Fla --

OCP made sure not to squander an opening possession touchdown in their first district contest of the season against Orangewood Christian School (OCS). The Warriors scored four times in the first quarter against the Rams en route to a 50-0 victory.

Junior offensive weapon/defensive back Demarion Jenkins scored all four touchdowns for the OCP (1-2, 1-0), which gives him six first quarter scores in three games with an opening possession score in as many games. In the previous two games, Jenkins' big play during each of OCP's first possession, was not enough for the Warriors to take advantage.

In this game, Jenkins scored on a 7-yard run (11:37), then caught a pass from senior quarterback Makai Elder for a 33-yard TD on the next possession (7:07). Following a blocked punt for a safety, Jenkins took the ensuing kickoff to the endzone for a 68-yard touchdown (5:08). The fourth and final score of the quarter came with 0:45 remaining as he caught a quick pass from Elder in the flat and raced down the sideline, avoiding tacklers and the sideline, for a 47-yard touchdown. Jenkins finished with 155 all-purpose yards. The Warriors finished the game with 256 yards of total offense.

Senior running back Brian Thomas added two more rushing touchdowns to the scoreboard with runs of 7 and 43 yards in the second quarter. Two of this three carries in the game were touchdowns. Thomas finished with a game-high 67 rushing yards. OCP only ran 20 offensive plays in the game.

Elder, starting his first game of the season in relief of injured starter Vilay Nakkoun, was 5-for-5 passing for 120 yards with the 2 TD passes to Jenkins.

Defensively, the Warriors held OCS to 46 yards of total offense, had 5 sacks, had three turnovers (2 fumble recovery, 1 INT), blocked two punts and had two safeties.

Despite not scoring in the second half, OCP used the time spent to get some players into action that had not seen much, if any, game experience with a lead. A good district win
